Exciting developments are on the horizon for residents of Noida Extension eagerly awaiting metro connectivity. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is actively exploring a new route for the Greater Noida West Metro that would link it with the Sector-61 Metro Station on Delhi Metro’s Blue Line. This proposed extension will add approximately two and a half kilometers to the existing metro route, greatly benefiting the daily commuters heading to Delhi for work.
Noida Extension, a burgeoning locality, has been long-awaiting this metro connection, and it’s now closer to becoming a reality. The NMRC has given the green light to explore this new route, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has also directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to consider the feasibility of Delhi Metro’s Blue Line Extension. The preliminary stages of a feasibility study for the new route are already in progress.
The DMRC has been tasked with delivering a report on the new route within a month. Should the proposed route be approved, it is estimated that work on the Greater Noida West Metro extension will commence in approximately six months.
Currently, the Noida Sector 52 metro station serves as a major transit point for commuters traveling to Greater Noida and Noida Extension, owing to its proximity to the Aqua Line. However, NMRC officials are actively contemplating the extension of the Aqua Line from Sector-51 to the Sector-61 Metro Station on the Blue Line. This development would eliminate the need for passengers to disembark at the Sector 52 metro station and seek alternative transportation to reach the Aqua Line’s Sector 51 metro station.
Once the final route is determined, travelers heading to Greater Noida will experience a similar travel time as before, but the advantage will be the elimination of platform changes. Notably, ongoing efforts are underway to connect the Sector-51 and Sector-52 metro stations with a convenient skywalk. When the skywalk is completed, it will benefit thousands of passengers from both NMRC and DMRC, providing them with a more seamless and efficient commuting experience.
