Preparations for the Next Phase
The Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is preparing to enter its second stage of trial operations, beginning on November 15. This phase will see daily flight operations by Akasa, Indigo, and potentially Air India until December 15, according to Arun Veer Singh, CEO of Noida International Airport Limited.
One-Month Testing Phase
During this period, a month-long testing process will be conducted. Singh explained that the data gathered from this stage will be uploaded to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) website by December 20. Following this, the airport will apply for the necessary aerodrome licensing.
Full Operations Planned for 2025
The Noida International Airport expects to receive its operating license by March 20, 2025, with full-scale operations scheduled to start on April 17, 2025. On this first day of operations, a total of 30 flights are planned, including three international routes to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai, along with two cargo flights.
Initial Flight Schedule
According to Singh, the initial flight schedule will consist of 25 domestic flights, three international flights, and two cargo flights. The airport recently completed the first stage of operations, which included flight calibration tests approved by the DGCA. These tests reviewed factors like runway readiness and wind speed.
Partnerships with International Airlines
The airport has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa, and further partnerships are being explored. Domestically, Noida International Airport will connect to major cities such as Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Dehradun. The exact list of cities is still under review and may change as plans are finalized.
Extensive Testing with Domestic Airlines
During the trial period, various flights by Indigo and Akasa, along with aircraft from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), will use the runway for testing purposes. Discussions are also underway to include Air India in the second phase of Noida International Airport’s operations.
This second stage represents a significant step toward making Noida International Airport a fully functional travel hub. With the potential to boost connectivity both domestically and internationally, the airport is on track to become a key player in India’s aviation sector.
