Increasing Traffic Expected Near Noida Airport
Noida: As the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Greater Noida, moves closer to completion, traffic in the area is expected to increase. If necessary steps are not taken on time, travelers heading to the airport may face heavy congestion.
Police Request Road Expansion
Due to the expected rise in traffic, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh has written to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Arun Vir Singh. The letter requests the expansion of all roads and highways connected to Noida Airport and the nearby domestic airport.
Yamuna Expressway to be Expanded
Currently, the Yamuna Expressway, which passes through Noida Airport, has six lanes. Authorities have decided to expand it to eight lanes to handle the growing number of vehicles. The construction of Noida Airport is progressing quickly, and it is expected to start operations soon.
Airport to Have Five Runways in Future
In the first phase, Noida Airport will have two runways. Later, in the second phase, the number of runways will increase to five. Initially, the airport will be able to handle 70 million passengers every year. In the second phase, this number will rise to 225 million.
Heavy Traffic Around the Airport
Once the airport becomes operational, the number of domestic and international passengers will increase significantly. Along with passenger vehicles, the cargo terminal will also bring thousands of trucks and transport vehicles every day. Currently, about 10 lakh vehicles use the Noida Expressway daily, and this number is expected to grow.
Roads to be Widened for Smooth Travel
The roads connecting Noida Airport serve not only passengers but also workers, farmers, and businesses from areas like Noida, Greater Noida, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Mathura. Due to rising traffic, road widening has become essential to ensure smooth travel for both residents and visitors.
The proposal for road expansion has been sent to the Chief Executive Officer of YEIDA for further action. Authorities are now waiting for approval to begin work on making the roads wider and better prepared for future traffic.
