Gurugram’s GMDA Approves Budget for Development Using Rs. 2887 Crore

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has approved a budget of Rs 2,887.32 crore for the financial year 2024-25.

Meeting Details

Chief Minister Nayab Singh chaired a meeting in Chandigarh where various development projects were discussed.

Enhancing City Surveillance and Traffic Management

The GMDA has allocated Rs 422 crore for the third phase of the CCTV project. This will increase the number of high-quality CCTV cameras from 4,000 to 14,000 to improve city surveillance and traffic management.

New Flyovers to Ease Traffic

  • Sector 45-46-51-52 Flyover: Rs 52 crore has been allocated to build a flyover to reduce traffic congestion.
  • Sector 85-86-89-90 Flyover: Another flyover will be constructed to improve traffic flow in this area.

Upgrading Tau Devi Lal Stadium

The stadium will undergo major renovations worth Rs 634.30 crore to provide modern sports infrastructure, including new training centers and state-of-the-art facilities.

New Water Treatment Plants

  • Chandu Budhera: A 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant will be built for Rs 78 crore.
  • Basai: A 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant will be constructed for Rs 247 crore.
  • Dhanwapur: The main pumping station will be upgraded to a 650 MLD capacity for Rs 119 crore.

Introducing Electric Buses

GMDA will procure 200 electric buses for Rs 69.66 crore to provide clean and affordable city bus services, aiming to reduce the city’s carbon footprint.

Storm Water Drainage System

A sum of Rs 215 crore has been approved for the Master Storm Water Drainage System in Sector 76-80 along National Highway-48.

Sewerage Treatment Plant Upgrades

  • Behrampur: Upgrading the 120 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant for Rs 50.58 crore.
  • Dhanwapur: Upgrading the 100 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant for Rs 75.46 crore.
  • Sector 107: Construction of two 100 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plants for Rs 500 crore.

Other Projects

Discussions also covered plans for a new civil hospital, bus stand, improved drainage, and door-to-door garbage collection.

Addressing Water-Logging Issues

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to address water-logging during the monsoon. He plans to visit Gurugram personally to ensure the issue is resolved promptly and has directed officers to be held accountable.

Improving Garbage Collection

Strict instructions were given to improve garbage collection and management, aiming to make Gurugram clean and beautiful within three days.
